Littleton treats a vehicle as derelict when it's missing essential parts like the engine, transmission, wheels, windows or windshield, and as unlicensed when it doesn't have current plates. In residential areas, either kind has to be kept in a fully enclosed garage or similar structure, or in a carport only if it's completely covered with an opaque cover.

Once a notice is posted, the city generally gives five days to fix it. After that, it can remove the vehicle at the owner's expense, add a 15% administrative fee, and put a lien on the property.
